My Story
Hello, I'm Darlene Brooks. When I think about my graphic design experience. I can say that I have been designing and developing content for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Philadelphia, PA with 4 siblings in housing development that no longer exists. I loved school and drawing. I would draw on anything and spent much time attending art school and participating in City exhibits and contests.
This passion for art grew during my high school years at a boarding school in Lakeville, CT. The art studio was my haven. It had glass walls and overlooked the golf course and lake. There, I was inspired to explore all types of art, including sculpture.
My introduction to digital drawing and graphics also started early as an Engineering student from Junior High School to Graduate School and professional work experience in Engineering and Technology.
While I had been providing graphic design service for family, the church, and friends, my graphic design career did not officially start until 2012 when I started developing flyers, logos and websites for travel professionals in a part-time business.
In 2020, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, I diversified my business and called it "Yes to Better Life" (YTBL), which to me, seemed appropriate for that year and the product line I promoted.
At the end of 2021, I retired from full-time employment in Technology, and decided to pursue my passion for art, creativity, design, and development, full time. Stretching my imagination and making content look great is what I like to do! What started out as a hobby has become a successful business ... and it, too, is a way of helping others achieve "a better life" ...
